the road to lipton’s seat
This Collection is the result of a trip from Ella to Lipton’s seat in Haputale. Lipton’s seat is one of the highest accessible points in Haputale with stunning 360 degrees views. The drive/walk there is as stunning giving you different perspectives of the valley below as it snakes around the tea filled hills.
This was the second time I have been to Lipton’s seat and both times we were engulfed in mist. What the mist took away in clarity it gave back in atmosphere which was almost eerie at times.
enough chit chat here are the pics

The Following shots were taken on the drive back into Haputale. I just loved the view of town nestled in the foothills of this beautiful mountain range.

This is a crop of the above image. I loved the cloud formation and the view so much i felt it deserved an image of its own.

the ella adventure continues
here are more pics of ella as promised. All the pics below were taken pretty much all from the same vantage point just outside my room. One of my goals this trip was to capture the magic of the mist that envelopes ella for most of the year. This next shot was taken early morning just as the mist was lifting as the sun came up.

Ravana falls features next and it is my first try at photographing a waterfall. The water falls is linked with the legend of ravana and it is said that Sita bathed in a pool fed by the ravana falls.

We also managed to hike to and bathe in the waterfalls. It was a rather scary at times but ultimately awesome experience. The view from the falls was breathtaking too. Unfortunately didnt take my camera along for that one.
The final shot of the series is of the triangular peak on the far end of the valley. It roseup like an ancient pyramid and was covered in mist for most of the time. On my last eveningthe valley was ablaze for a few minutes with this amazing oragne light I framed the shot and hoped thee peak would emerge from the mist long enough for me to get my shot. I guess the gods were smiling.

The ella adventure
after what seems like forever I got a chance to head out of town for the long weekend. The only choice was to run for the hills escaping the Colombo heat wave. 3 nights in Ella and 1 night in Bentota on the way down was the result.
The cooler weather and the stunning vistas of ella were just the tonic for some much needed R&R and also to get the photographic cogs turning.
We staid in a awesome small guesthouse Ambiente with stunning views of the famous Ella Gap. This was the view from the balcony of my room the first morning of our trip

4 days spent watching the mist rolling over the hills let me capture the continuously changing mood of ella. Will put up the rest of the pic s over the next few days.
or you could just check them out in my ella set on flickr
room with a view
Finally I have got around to putting up my first post. I have been always wanted to photograph my house and garden but never found the right light or inspiration until last Sunday. I woke towards the end of a heavy rainstorm and looked through the garden outside my bedroom window and well this is what I saw
